Mervyn Howard
Mervyn Howard is Executive Chairman of the Board of Apache Capital Partners and also chairs its Investment and Remuneration Committees. With over 35 years’ real estate and capital markets experience, across major global businesses, Mervyn brings a broad array of expertise in capital raising, acquisitions, structuring, financing, asset management and operations. Over the last four years, he has helped fully institutionalise Apache Capital Partners’ systems and processes, streamlining governance, operations and reporting.

Mervyn previously spent 12 years at Grosvenor, the international development, investment and fund management company, including roles as Board Director and Managing Director of the UK business and CEO of its FCA regulated subsidiary. During the 1990s he held senior positions at GE Capital Real Estate and TrizecHahn Europe. This coincided with a period of great change in the real estate sector which paved the way for the scalable operationalised investment approach to real estate that is now integral to the Apache Capital Partners business strategy.
John Dunkerley
John Dunkerley, founding partner and Chief Executive Officer of Apache Capital Partners, has 30 years experience in property and investment management.
Together with Richard Jackson, John established Apache Capital Partners in 2008 to invest in chronically undersupplied but structurally supported residential sectors. Within 10 years, that strategy has seen Apache Capital Partners help launch Moda Living, the UK’s leading build-to-rent brand, and partner on groundbreaking schemes in purpose-built student accommodation and later living.
John’s role is transactional, and investor focused, with a personal track record of completing in excess of £2.5bn of real estate transactions. His extensive global network stretches from North America through Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific, and his investment management skills have cemented his ability to drive value and deliver exemplary returns to long-standing clients.
John’s previous roles include establishing the property arm for BPIM and taking it global, along with spearheading UK investment for Jones Lang Wootton and Fletcher King.
John is a member of PREA and INREV.
Richard Jackson
Richard Jackson is a founding partner and Managing Director of Apache Capital Partners. He is one of the senior leadership team and has over 20 years’ experience in property and development funding.
Prior to launching Apache Capital Partners in 2008, Richard worked with John Dunkerley primarily on two funds in the UK and Europe, the latter of which Richard focused on growing the portfolio by acquiring assets throughout mainland Europe.
Together with John, Richard launched Apache Capital Partners with a strategy of investing in chronically undersupplied but structurally supported residential sectors.
Richard’s day to day role focuses on investment and business development and he is also responsible for the company vision and strategy. He has worked closely with Joint Venture Partners Moda Living on the company’s prime BTR investments to create exceptional places to call home.
Richard is a member of the IPF Residential Special Interest Group (SIG) Committee, PREA and INREV.
Denis Aghaizu
Denis Aghaizu has over 20 years’ experience in the Financial Services industry, the last 15 of which within the Private Equity Real Estate sector. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant, having trained at PwC London. Prior to joining Apache, Denis was a director at Bilfinger Real Estate Argoneo, a former Morgan Stanley Real Estate asset management platform. Before Bilfinger, Denis spent seven years at Morgan Stanley as part of their Frankfurt-based Private Equity Real Estate team, which managed at its peak Eur 13bn of commercial and mixed-use real estate across continental Europe. He holds a degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and is fluent in German.
Mark Peck
Mark Peck is a real estate investment professional with a private equity and private practice legal background gained over the last 16 years. Mark qualified as a lawyer in 2001 and having spent four years in private practice he moved into real estate investment management with particular focus on shari’ah compliant transactions. He has extensive practical knowledge in the due diligence, structuring and funding of acquisitions in a wide range of sectors and strategies and for both development and investment deals. Prior to joining Apache, Mark was Head of Operations for 90 North Real Estate Partners. Before 90 North, he was Director, Head of European Transactions at HDG Mansur Investment Services Ltd. He has concluded over $2bn worth of transactions in a shariah compliant fashion.
Andrew Park
Andrew Park has over 18 years’ accountancy and real estate experience. He is a qualified accountant and holds a degree in Law. His training as an accountant and subsequent experience included a high degree of speciality in financial modelling and analysis, initially centred on social housing before expending into the wider real estate sectors. Prior to joining Apache Capital Partners, Andrew worked for AEW Europe and ING Real Estate Investment Management and was responsible for fund modelling and strategic analysis for their UK and pan-European platforms. Andrew is responsible for client and internal reporting, financial modelling and analysis across the portfolios to aid acquisition and transactional due diligence as well as provide ongoing quantitate and qualitative management reporting.
Jamie Snary
Jamie Snary is a qualified Chartered Surveyor and has 18 years’ experience in real estate property and asset management. Prior to joining Apache 6 years ago, Jamie worked at niche asset management practice, MJ Mapp leaving as a Director and member of the Business Development Board. Jamie led the teams on the management of portfolios owned by a range of institutional, fund and private clients.
At Apache, Jamie has overall responsibility for all asset and portfolio management alongside ensuring that operational strategies are successfully implemented across their three specialist real estate platforms; Private Rented Residential Build to Rent (BTR) - both multi and single family housing; Student accommodation; and Senior living. Apache typically form Joint Ventures with a number of chosen partners, each of whom are specialists in their chosen field.
Alan Penfold
Alan Penfold has over 13 years’ experience in real estate property planning and development having delivered numerous large-scale housing and mixed-use developments for three of the UK’s Top 10 Major Housebuilders. Before joining Apache, Alan worked for the housing and mixed-use developer Crest Nicholson having joined in 2013. Alan held the position of Development Director for the largest region of Crest, successfully managing the Development Team and was responsible for site acquisition, development and planning for the region completing over 600 units per annum over 12-15 outlets. Alan has experience on a wide range of deal structures and has successfully managed joint venture developments with public, private and government authorities.
Alan is responsible for sourcing and analysing land transactions, due-diligence, and managing the land acquisition process through to securing detailed planning permission for all new projects.
David Williams
David has over 20 years of experience in development and construction delivery. His career has seen him work on a number of large mixed use projects, the most high profile being, his involvement in ‘The Shard of Glass’ scheme from inception to completion. Prior to joining Apache, David spent over six years at Muse Developments where he was responsible for overseeing the planning, construction and management of three large mixed use schemes in London and the South of the UK, delivering in excess of 900 residential units and 150,000 sqft plus of commercial units. David’s wider responsibilities at Muse included a role on the New Business Team and he was also responsible for delivering a number of Company and Parent Company wide initiatives. Prior to joining Muse, David was a Director at Davis Langdon (AECOM), where he spent eight years overseeing the team which delivered commercial and project management duties for the Shard / London Bridge Quarter development. David has also had spells at EC Harris and Currie and Brown, where he gained his RICS accreditation and worked on a number of high profile projects including the Old Bailey Courts and the More London project. In addition, David also sits on a number of industry panels and has been a member of the BCO Board of Management.
Andrew Berman
Andrew Berman is a qualified Chartered Accountant with over 18 years’ experience in real estate financial accounting and reporting as well as fund reporting and management. Following his Bachelor of Science degree from Leeds University, he qualified in 1996 after training at BDO Stoy Hayward (now BDO LLP) and subsequently focused on turnaround, asset tracing and investigations. In 1999 he joined British Land where he was Head of Joint Venture Reporting with reporting oversight of a joint venture portfolio exceeding £1bn. Between 2007 and 2013 he worked in family office real estate as Head of UK and European Reporting, responsible for cross-jurisdictional portfolios with total asset value exceeding £2bn. He has since been involved in developing and training fund reporting teams and has managed investment funds, as well as having worked on a number of development projects. Andrew is responsible for financial reporting, taxation, treasury and administration.
Emma Giannini
Emma Giannini qualified as a solicitor in Scotland in 2015. Prior to joining the transactions and structuring team at Apache she worked as a lawyer in private practice at both real estate and corporate law firms. While in private practice Emma specialised in structuring and managing real estate transactions with a particular focus on corporate real estate structures and Shari’ah compliant investing and has acted on more than £2bn of real estate transactions. Emma is involved in all aspects of facilitating transactions at Apache and provides in house legal support to the transactions and structuring team.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business. He is also a CFA Charterholder. Prior to joining Apache Capital Partners, Michael worked in the Corporate Finance team at CBRE in London where he focused on Pan-European real estate M&A as well as holding investment roles at GE Capital Real Estate and Oxford Properties in Toronto. His experience includes underwriting and evaluating debt, equity and corporate real estate transactions across all major asset types in both Europe and North America. At Apache, Michael is responsible for financial modelling, transactional due diligence, investment recommendations and presentations, portfolio analysis and reporting.
Martha Ferreira
Martha joined Apache in 2018 to lead on the development of our interior design and lifestyle co-ordination. Following a period of time overseas, Martha has now relocated to the UK where she has completed a number of private residential commissions both in the UK and Europe. Martha brings to Apache many years of experience working as a freelance interior designer with her unique sense of style and flair coupled with a strong project management and budgeting capability and exacting attention to detail. Martha’s role centres around co-ordinating all respective parts of the interior design process liaising closely with our Joint Venture partners and increasingly advising on the formation of aspirational lifestyles across our BTR platform.
Nikki Price
Nikki graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2013 with a first class degree in Psychology. Since graduating Nikki has work in the property industry gaining experience in residential and new homes departments. Nikki joined Apache in 2016 as Richard’s Personal Assistant and has since been promoted to ESG and Operations Manager. Nikki takes an active role in the coordination and promotion of ESG initiatives within the business and Chair’s Apache’s ESG Committee. Nikki’s background in Psychology has also lead to her taking responsibility for the Human Resource side of the business including selection, recruitment, staff apprasials & induction.
Hannah Monelle
Hannah joined Apache in 2018 as Front of House and conducts all aspects of reception, administrative and PA duties within her varied role, providing a friendly welcome to our clients who visit the Apache office. Previously, Hannah worked in the hospitality industry including spells in France and Spain working for high end travel companies. Hannah moved to London to work as a Private Nanny before joining the Apache team.
